No. SignalTemp is an educational technical-analysis tool. It is not a broker or adviser, its temperature model is a transparent heuristic with a published descriptive backtest, and nothing it shows is a recommendation to buy or sell. Always do your own research.

Are these real stock prices?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the hosted version runs on real market data from free public feeds: daily closes for the indicator math, refreshed with the current price while the app is open (may be delayed up to ~15 minutes; not a trading feed). Without a data connection the app falls back to deterministic simulated demo data and labels everything SIMULATED.

Has the temperature model been backtested?

Yes — a replay over five years of real daily data for 40 US large caps is published on the methodology page, including where the model did not work: cold readings preceded above-average returns, while hot readings meant below-average gains rather than declines. Descriptive only, not proof of an edge.

What is the stock temperature?

Accepted Answer

A 0-100 score of how overbought (hot) or oversold (cold) a chart looks, blended from RSI, distance from the 50-day moving average, one-month momentum and short-term trend. Under 20 is Deep-Freeze; over 80 is Overheated.

How is the buy, sell or hold signal decided?

By deterministic rules, not AI. Cold readings map to a contrarian buy zone, hot readings to a contrarian sell zone, and the middle to hold. The optional AI layer only explains the result in plain English.

No. The signal, temperature and confidence work instantly with zero setup. A free OpenRouter key is optional and only unlocks the plain-English AI rationale. Your watchlist and keys stay in your browser.
